Summer 2011
3 weeks of Youth Day Camps
“Fashion” is about more just clothing. Fashion is a creative and artistic expression that begins with personal style and self image.
Fashion Diva Campers will learn how to use colour, various materials, fabrics and accessories to express themselves “fashionably”.
They’ll learn about different body types and suitable ways to work with them.
They’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of design and the nature of different design elements and media.
They’ll also get hands-on sessions in making their own jewelry and accessories using imaginative and unconventional materials.
Campers will be taught the fundamentals of sewing and the use of sewing machines for basic hemming and stitching. (hand-sewing included!)
Daily camp sessions run from 9 a.m. To 4 p.m. and will also include plenty of suitably energy-burning games and activities.

Camp
July 25-29 • Ages 9-11
($197)
It’s never too early to learn to “do-it-yourself” and take pride in the personal achievement!
Handy-Kids Camp will introduce young DIY-ers to the principles behind the main areas of small home type projects: wood-working, plumbing and electricity.
Campers will learn about project plans and drawings - how to read them and will try their hand at making their own.
They’ll also have a wide selection of projects from which to choose where they can apply their own skills in building small items for the home and garden: Deck chairs, bird houses, etc.
Campers will also be taught the critical importance of safety when working with materials and tools. (Only a few small power tools will be used under close supervision - campers will not have access to major power tools.)
Daily camp sessions run from 9 a.m. To 4 p.m. and will include lots of time for outdoor games and activities.
“Art Camp” has proven to be our annual favourite with all ages. This year it’s being offered to the 6-8 yr. age group whose young imaginations are still highly colourful and energized.
Camp activities include painting and drawing. Where suitable, campers may learn about drawing principles such and scale, proportion and perspective.
They’ll also explore the 3D world of sculpture using air-dry (self hardening) materials. Here too, they’ll use the principles of proportion and balance.
Mask-making is always a favourite and campers will have the opportunity to “put a face” on their wildest imaginings using papier maché or plaster strips.
Art camp is usually a joyfully messy affair so send along a big old shirt that will come home looking very different!
Daily camp sessions run from 9 a.m. To 4 p.m. and include plenty of time to use up thousands of tiny little frenetic calories.
